FAQs

Why Does VATAS Offer A Direct-Pay Model?

At VATAS Integrative Psychiatry & Wellness, we believe mental health care should be transparent, accessible, and designed around you—not insurance companies. That is why we operate on a direct provider payment model.

Instead of navigating confusing co-pays, surprise bills, or denials from insurance, you pay your provider directly at a clear, predictable rate. This allows us to focus entirely on your care rather than on coding, billing disputes, or insurer restrictions.

  • Clarity in Costs
You know exactly what you are paying for. No hidden fees, no unexpected statements weeks later.

  • Freedom in Care
Treatment decisions are guided by your needs, not by what an insurance company will authorize. Every plan is personalized and flexible.

  • More Time, More Value
We invest our time in you, not in paperwork. That means longer sessions, deeper conversations, and thoughtful follow-up.

  • Privacy Protection
Your health information stays between you and your provider. Direct payment keeps insurers out of your medical record.

  • Holistic Flexibility
Because we are not limited by insurance guidelines, we can combine psychiatry with nutrition, supplements, functional testing, and wellness strategies—truly whole-person care.

  • The result is simple: direct payment ensures that your investment goes into your health, not bureaucracy. It empowers you with choice, protects your privacy, and delivers a level of personalized care that insurance-based models cannot provide.

Will VATAS be accepting insurance in the future?

Yes. We are actively working toward accepting select insurance plans in the near future to increase accessibility for our patients.

At this time, VATAS operates on a direct-pay model, which allows us to provide transparent pricing, longer sessions, and integrative services without the restrictions of insurance networks.

As credentialing progresses, we will update our patients about which insurance providers we can accept and what services will be covered. Until then, patients may continue with direct-pay, and we are happy to provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement if your insurance offers it.

If you would like to be notified as soon as insurance options become available, please join our Insurance Updates List through our contact form.

Can I use my insurance now for out-of-network reimbursement?

Yes. Although VATAS does not bill insurance directly at this time, we provide detailed superbills that you may submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage will depend on your individual plan, and reimbursement is not guaranteed.

What is a superbill, and how does it work?

A superbill is a detailed receipt that includes diagnosis codes, service codes, and provider information. After paying VATAS directly, you can submit the superbill to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. VATAS cannot guarantee reimbursement and does not control processing timelines, but many patients receive partial repayment.

Do you accept HSA or FSA cards?

Yes. Most patients can use Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) to pay for psychiatric services at VATAS. Please check with your account provider to confirm eligible expenses before scheduling.

Do you offer sliding-scale or income-based options?

Yes. Contact us for further information.
